Install on Android

Android installs apps from outside an app store only after you say which app may do it. Here's that step, the install itself, and what to do if Android stops.

The Install Permission (Android 8 and Later)

When you open the file, Android says the app you used (for example Chrome) isn't allowed to install unknown apps. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, go back.

This permission is per app, so it covers only the browser you allowed. You can turn it off after installing in Settings → Apps → (browser) → Install unknown apps.

On older Android versions, the setting is one Unknown sources switch in Security.

Install Sequence

Open the COME file from Download.
Allow the permission for the app that opened it.
Check the install screen shows COME.
Tap Install; wait.
Tap Open.

If Installation Stops

→ No install screen: open the file from Files instead of the notification.
→ "Not installed": check Settings → Storage; free space; use a fresh download.
→ Parse problem: download again on a steady connection. Very old Android versions may not support the app, so use the browser there.
→ Conflict with an installed app: confirm browser sign-in, then Settings → Apps → COME → Uninstall, then install.
→ Play Protect or manufacturer scanner warning: stop.

After Installing: Tidy Android Settings

Turn off "Allow from this source" for your browser if you won't install more apps this way.
Delete the APK from Downloads.
If your phone restricts background apps heavily, you can exempt COME in battery settings so it refreshes properly.

If You Opened the File From a Different App

The permission belongs to the app that opened the file. If you allowed Chrome and then opened the file from Files, allow Files too, or reopen the file from Chrome's Downloads list.
